Gotta say i had a lot of fun playing the game, it really did creep me out and I loved it xD

Thank you!

Okay so, i got a couple things to say. The first few minutes of gameplay, being the bed and having the portrait stare at you was very creepy and tense (although the red man was quite silly looking). BUT, the following part of going around that ''maze'' was incredibly annoying mainly because of how slow the character is and the lack of a sprint ability. The maze part kinda lost the creepy factor and was just sorta frustrating instead. So, overall a fun experience but can be improved. Gameplay starts at the 29 minute mark on my video.

Thank you for playing it! I know i should've put sprinting, and initially the maze was even larger lmfaoo. But it is my first game, and i challenged myself to make it with as little flipped assets as possible, and when i got to the end of the game i kinda hurried and didn't think how to make the game easier to be played through, but i'm still glad you liked it!

Well for your first game that was actually pretty darn nice, good job mate! Thank goodness you reduced the original size of the maze though lmao

Creative premise with a neat story, yet some execution details can be fixed to avoid oversaturation.

The premise for this game reminded me of the Netflix's Tv-Show episode "Pickman's Model", which is an adaptation of a short story by Lovecraft. I felt the same eerie vibes from the atmosphere. The tension between going to bed and checking on the portrait was intense and frustrating at the same time. It was as if I was literally going to sleep and surprisingly that portion of the game had me going forward. The visuals were neat, minimalistic and the rest was good.

However, I did not enjoy the second half of the game, where the player has to go "down" and investigate "something". I kind of felt lost and then the corridors dragged, which not only lost my interest but also the fear, which was implanted by the first part of the game. Furthermore, the sound design can be worked on, because some of the sound effects were extremely loud and some of them super quite. Although, that's a minor issue.

Overall, great game, I did like the idea behind this and I do wish all the best with your future projects. Cheers!

Thanks for the advise, i was inspired to make this game from a short novel literally named "portrait" by gogolj. It was the first written thing that ever scared me, it was truly terrifying. Yes, i know the maze is big, but when i was making it and when i was watching it top down, it really seemed very small, but yet again, i should've tested it more and fixed a few things, did you manage to finish the game?

I've read some of Nikolai's work, for sure. I genuinely enjoy that type of literature, but personally, Lovecraft is the goat for me.
I did not finish the game, unfortunately, but it was a good experience nevertheless.
Best of luck, once again. Cheers!
